RV Odd Couple
Full Time RV Living with a Toddler & Dog
How We Became Full-Time RV’ers
Hi, We’re the RV Odd Couple. We sold our house & most all possessions to hit the road and live in an RV full-time with our toddler and dog.
This is either the smartest or the worst decision we’ve ever made because we couldn’t be more opposite. John is a night owl, Libertarian, Irish, into 80’s Metal, Impulsive, & Loud. Mercedes is an early riser, Liberal, Puerto Rican, into Hip Hop and Latin Pop, Calm and Reserved.
Deciding to transition to full time RV living was a pretty bold move seeing as how Mercedes had never even spent the night in an RV until after we purchased the rig! And let’s be frank, we’re experiencing amazing freedom, peace, coupled with fear and anxiety. We’re keeping it real!
Our backgrounds are pretty different too. John, a Bostonian, spent his life as a Contractor enjoying great success. Mercedes is a life-long nerd, studying Communication at CU. She left her career in the mortgage industry after John’s remodeling company took off.
But despite all of our differences we have in common a love for one another, (perhaps because we find the other so peculiar), a devotion to our kids, and a conviction to enjoy every day to the fullest.
When we began considering minimalism and tiny living, we started by researching vehicle types. We researched motor homes, class A’s, class B’s, 5th wheels, travel trailers, tiny homes, and finding the right tow vehicle.
The process of selling all our our belongings to become a minimalist family was a soul searching endeavor indeed. We looked at how other families with kids simplified their lives to travel and figured out what we needed to make this work. We documented the process to transition into full time RV living with our family.
We explored all aspects of this lifestyle, from nomad boon docking to rv park memberships and glamping. Through trial and error, we were able to find our perfect fit and learn rv living hacks along the way.
We were given tons of valuable advice for free. By sharing our journey, (the good, bad, and in-between), we hope to pay that help forward and make new friends along the way. Join us as we take on the adventure of our lives.
